Short answers to frequent questions
For this, please use your IDM login, which you received upon enrollment or employment. Further information can be found in the Guidebook: IT Systems for Teaching and Studying.
If you need access to Moodle as a guest lecturer, a time-limited access can be requested from the IDM team (see above). The application must be submitted with proof of the teaching assignment by the responsible institute or organizing clinic.
Courses for lectures are usually selected by yourself; you are not automatically enrolled. How this works exactly is described in the Guidebook Courses in the section Before: Finding Courses and Registering.
If you are enrolled in courses, you can find them on the Moodle page My Courses. There, you can filter the courses by semester. Please remember to adjust the filter after the semester change. The Moodle page Dashboard shows updates about your courses, as well as dates and deadlines (if provided).
Lecturers are also not automatically added to courses; this happens on a semester basis according to the individual process of the organizing institution (clinic/institute).
As a lecturer, please contact the Moodle representatives of your institution (clinic/institute); they can create courses directly.
Student groups or institutions without a Moodle representative should contact the Moodle team directly (see above). We need the following information for the course creation:
- Course name
- Please provide the name of the course here
- Module number(s)
- Only for MINT lectures: All module numbers under which the course is offered
- Abbreviation
- The abbreviation or code for this course (in STEM lectures often specified in the module handbook, but established abbreviations can also be used). The abbreviation is used in the course short name, e.g. to facilitate course recognition in lists. The course abbreviation consists of three parts: Institution abbreviation, semester abbreviation and course abbreviation.
- Course startdate
- First date of the course
- Lecturer(s)
- Uni-IDM addresses of all lecturers teaching this course
- Assistant(s)
- Uni-IDM addresses of all assistants supporting this course
If you are reporting more than one course, please use the following template and send us your request as a table:

With Moodle, it is often the case that there are many ways to achieve your goal. Feel free to share your ideas with the Moodle team (see above). We are happy to advise you.
